July 29!  Pizza!  On the farm!

Cress Spring Pizzeria will once again be serving them up on Wednesday, July 29, from 4:30 pm until 8:30 pm.

To ease congestion on our long driveway, we’ve created an additional parking area, a bit closer to the bakery than our first parking area. Be sure to look for a spot in one of these lots before parking along the driveway.

After a fine opening set by Dan Walkner, the Lost Highway Allstars tore it up here last week. For this week, we’re excited to welcome Farmony, a singalong band that will play a variety of (mostly) very well known tunes from country, folk, rock, disco, easy listening, tv/movie theme songs, old timey gospel, ballads, parodies, barn burners, and obscure Norwegian folk songs. (Ok, I made that last part up, but who knows? It could happen…)

Our menu for this week is below, and it's also posted on our Facebook page. No new pizzas this week, but we’re fermenting some ideas.

Here’s how it works. Every Wednesday evening from May until October, we'll be selling flaming hot pizzas and delicious desserts, beer and wine, here at Cress Spring Farm. Picnic on our lawn or take your pizza to enjoy at home. Outdoor seating only - you are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and warm friends to snuggle with. You should also bring whatever plates, cutlery, etc. that you might need for your picnic. Pizza will be served in boxes, beer and soda in bottles and wine by the bottle or glass. We will have mason jars available for wine, but we encourage you to bring your own. You may supplement your picnic with any salads or other food you wish to bring, but we ask that you not bring your own alcohol. We accept cash, checks, credit cards, and chickens as payment.

We hope to see you soon!

Cress Spring Pizzeria will once again be serving them up on Wednesday, July 22, from 4:30 pm until 8:30 pm.

Back from vacation, Cress Spring Pizzeria will once again be serving them up on Wednesday, July 15, from 4:30 pm until 8:30 pm.

We’ll be featuring live music every week, and this week we welcome the Porch Music Kids. Ranging in age from 8 to 15, these students at the Wild Full Moon Music School in Blue Mounds will be performing old-time, Irish and classical pieces.

Our menu for this week is below, and it's also posted on our Facebook page. As we sink deeper into a sultry summer swoon, it’s time to bring back the classic Margherita. Keeping it simple, with fresh tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil.

We’re also very excited about our newest dessert pizza, the Cherry Pie, loaded with tart cherries, almond pastry cream,  mascarpone-ricotta blend, and an almond streusel topping. If that sounds like way too much fun, you could try a Raspberry Chocolate Tart instead.

We hope to see you soon!

Important notice: We will be on vacation on Wednesday, July 8, there will be no pizza that day!

Hello,

Your favorite bakers will be taking a much need vacation next week. We will be at the market on the square and the westside community market as usual tomorrow, but we will not be at either market on Saturday, July 11, and there will be no pizza next Wednesday, July 8!!!  Are you hearin' me? Don't come. We won't be here next week. We will return to the markets on Saturday, July 18, and resume pizza on Wednesday, July 15.

I know it's small consolation, but here is our vacation poem of the week:

Old Blue

Some day I'll crank up that Corvette, let it
mumble those marvelous oil-swimming gears
and speak its authority. I'll rock its big wheels
till they roll free onto the drive. Nobody can
stop us then: loaded with everything, we'll pick up
momentum for the hill north of town. Mona,
you didn't value me and it's too late now.
Steve, remember your refusal to go along on
those deals when you all opposed me?—you had
your chance. Goodby, you squealers and grubbies;
goodby, old house that begins to leak, neighbors
gone stodgy, days that lean casually grunting
and snoring together. For anyone who ever needs
the person they slighted, this is my address: "Gone."

- William Stafford
